Because of my longtime experience in sexual topics and sex abuse, I noted a Times of Israel article about how to combat sexual violence yesterday and was interested to see if the advice would be good and address what is needed to get real change. The author, Debbie Gross, a founder of a women and children crisis center in Israel, shared a terribly concerning stat for child sex abuse: 11,102 reports of child abuse last year in Israel, most of which were cases of sexual abuse. That is a horribly large number for a small country like Israel which only has 9.8 million people[1.1].
Debbie made suggestions and demanded accountability and action from government leaders, such as: More funding for a "national goal" of combating sexual violence, educating the whole population about these issues, more treatment centers for victims, and better legislation to protect and deter these crimes that addressed the long-term effects on victims. I found her recommendations good, but she was missing some very important ones that are absolutely necessary, such as eliminating porn and lewd media, eliminating lusting and sexual sins, and truly appropriate and severe punishment for offenders (Debbie did list law to deter sex crimes and recognize their consequences on victims, but I felt she was not explicit enough about was is needed).
My comments to "Here’s how Israel can treat its epidemic of sexual violence" follow:
Minister Ty Alexander: About 11 thousand reports of child sex abuse is deplorable and shameful for Israel, and I am certain the count for other sex crimes multiplies that number. Such widespread depravity shows how far the national tumat (impurity) has gone and the lack of focus on fixing these crimes shows what is important to the leaders and rabbinate whom are ultimately responsible for the welfare of all the people. In the age past, El Elyon, God Most High, would have eradicated all who had a hand in these sins and severely punished those who were complacent, those knowing full well action was needed, but did nothing or too little.
Debbie's comments and suggestions are a good start but much more is needed. I did not see in her list what is really needed to remove the people's tumat - Remove from yourselves the pornography, smut, lust, and sexual immorality that is corrupting you all, properly investigate all incidents, and enact severe, strict, and swift punishment for sex offenders. Slaps on the hand, a few months in jail, even a few years, is not sufficient judgment for serious sex crimes that ruin the entire lives of victims. Judge and rule properly, Israel, so that El Shaddai [Almighty God] would not need to judge all the people for their ways and inaction.
My thoughts were because of the severe depravity of crimes, like child sex abuse and rape and abuse by determined rapists, and that offenders often cripple and force their victims onto paths of life that become worse and worse, such as having chronic depression, anxiety, paranoia, chemical addiction, and sexual sins, they've stolen, and really, killed, the lives and blessings of their victims while they only get slaps on the hands and run off to get more victims. Surely, I realize El Elyon will always judge such depraved rapists, but society and leaders also have roles and duties to remove these sins from the people.
I've seen cases of severe serial rapists go on for decades as they commit their crimes. Why didn't God judge them more severely and swiftly? He has His reasons to allow the degenerate to harm people, because the peoples' sins prevent blessings of protection and because judgment must flow for many reasons. The Lord is also slow to anger (Exodus 34:6; Numbers 14:18; Nehemiah 9:17; Psalm 86:15, 103:8, 145:8; Joel 2:13; Jonah 4:2; Nahum 1:3), meaning He usually does not act swiftly to bring judgment upon sinners. He allows sin to spread as He sees fit. He has done that through the ages for all the different peoples, allowing their many sins to proceed through generations before He deems the limit is reached and He brings destruction, which I alluded to in my comments at The Times of Israel.
Free will is an important right He granted to mankind, and life and its choices are a test for us all. What will you do to make the good fight in your own lives? In your families? In your communities?
What will you do when companies and elitists that have their fingers in general society support and propagate the lusts and immoralities that are corrupting everyone and inflaming multitudes of sex crimes? Companies and people, like X (Twitter), Elon Musk, Donald Trump,
AI companies, other social media companies, and media production companies, like Netflix, HBO, and even
Disney and
anime cartoons, which I've talked about before
(see Family Safe or Insidiously Cute? and Is it time to lock up Disney?). Do you keep supporting them and their works? Or do you resist and remove, and bring others to do the same?
I mentioned X and Elon Musk first because, recently, their AI chatbot, Grok, was found making 6700 nude and lustful images
per hour of real women and children without consent
[1.2]. Such deepfake image and video generation is something I talked about in
The Morality of Using AI and Deepfake Technology, but I bring it up here because it goes with how widespread lusting and sexual depravity has spread around the world. 6700 lewd images generated per hour (160,000 images a day) means a lot of people are requesting this content be made, and that is only one AI platform. There are other more popular ones doing the same things.
If you still use X or Elon Musk's services or products, I suggest you boycott, as I did when Musk bought X
(see this Update in God's Alarm for more about X and Musk's links to immorality), as well as any other company, organization, or person responsible for producing or supporting inappropriate sexual media. We may not be able to completely destroy this kind of media, but doing what we can still helps to limit its creation and spread so that less depravity is spread, producing less sex criminals, and reducing the number of victims.
The rest we must give to God. Destruction of sin and depravity may not be as swift as we want, but surely, the Lord's judgment will come to destroy it and those who support it. Another good reason to distance yourselves from such companies, people, and media creators.
